Susan is a multitalented, multimedia artist who brings her special skills to the Creativity Center in the form of quality crafts.

My artwork is inspired to re-create beauty in every handmade piece of artwork. I am a cottage industry and my products enhance and beautify simple, everyday tasks. I am fortunate to live in the Pacific Northwest and have the pleasure to observe crows and enjoy their intelligent and unique personalities. The paintings are created using many thin layers of wax that attract and refract light. Encaustic painting is a fascinating and fun medium and I love exploring different styles and themes.

Using photography as the ground, photos are digitally manipulated and the images then transferred to a wood frame covered in encaustic wax. Layers of wax then suspend the photograph, altering the appearance to produce the cloud like feeling of the medium. The imagery appears to float.
