Artist Statement

“Creating is a process of observation, participation and discovery. The subject matter of my work is extracted from this process. When I begin, I am not certain what will inspire me, but I know that it is there to be found. It becomes defined as the process evolves. As I work with an idea, it eventually tells me what needs to happen; where to go. Through much exploration and analysis, unexpected relationships present themselves and lead to the solution. They tell a story.

Trees and the forest invoke wonder and inspiration for me; and a sense of magic and mystery. Yet, at the same time they provide a point of reference, a common ground. They are symbolic of our relationship with nature, and help to place us in the natural rhythm of the world. To understand this rhythm is the essence of my exploration.”
