Tuesdays, April 4-May 5, 12:30-3:30p.m.. (afternoon class)
Learn traditional method of botanical watercolor to portray your favorite plants, flowers, and vegetables realistically. Classes are small so Kathleen can give individual instruction. Those with previous experience will be given work geared to their skill level.

Hand Sewn Books

Make artful as well as useful books with stitched binding. A colorful chap book for poems, and/or artwork. Also learn the ancient craft of Suminagashi. Using this ink-on-water marbling technique to decorate paper and covers for your books.

How to use your digital camera
Saturday, April 25, 10:00a.m.-2:00p.m.
Learn the basics about aperture, shutter speed and ISO. Understand the difference between JPEG and RAW files. You’ll end this workshop with a better understanding of how your camera works, which will give you more control over creating photographs.

Learn basic skills for botanical painting. Apply washes and dry-brush to render vegetables in a realistic three dimensional style, characteristic of traditional botanical painting. All skill levels welcome. Instruction is individually adjusted to your degree of experience.

Bag and Tote

This is a fun, informative class to create your own personalized fabric tote. Learn to design, measure, applique or screen print and sew a beautiful custom handbag. Your final bag will measure 15”Hx15”Wx4”D. It will have an inner liner pocket and clear vinyl cover to protect it from dirt or rain.

Supplies needed for class:
  • Fabric –
    ½ yard of light to mid weight cotton for the exterior
    ½ yard of light to mid weight cotton for the lining
    1 spool of coordinating thread –I recommend cotton covered polyester thread

  • Sewing Tape Measure
  • Pencil
Helpful Supplies (but not necessary to take class):

Portraiture Sculpture

A 15 hour workshop using a model, you will create a life size portrait. There will be a lecture, armature created and photographic references taken during the first meeting May 19. You will be working with the same model for the following 2 sessions.
